If an app in the Shopify App Store solves it for a small monthly fee, install that. Custom code costs more to build and to keep current, so it must earn its place. We say so in discovery.
Keeping apps current
Shopify versions its APIs and retires old versions on a schedule. An app that is not maintained eventually stops working. We state in the scope who watches the changes and how updates are handled, so it is not a surprise later.
