WordPress development services
WordPress development services: custom themes, blocks, plugins, WooCommerce and migrations that your own team can edit. Written scope, you own everything.
WordPress is the right tool when staff must edit content without a developer and the site must still be fast, secure and cheap to host. It is the wrong tool when the thing you are building is a transactional application. We build with it where it fits and say plainly where it does not.
What we build in WordPress
- Custom themes. Built for your design, not a template with the logo swapped. Editor-friendly, so your team changes pages without breaking layout.
- Block-based editing. Reusable blocks and patterns for the layouts you repeat.
- Business sites and content hubs. Service pages, case studies, blogs and documentation, with structure that search engines can read.
- WooCommerce stores. Custom product logic, checkout changes, shipping and payment integrations.
- Custom plugins. Behaviour that no directory plugin provides. See custom WordPress plugin development.
- Migrations. From another CMS or an old WordPress build, with redirects mapped so existing URLs keep working.
- Performance and cleanup. Removing plugin pile-ups, fixing slow queries and tightening security.
What you hold at the end
| Item | Detail |
|---|---|
| Theme and plugin source | In a repository under your account |
| Hosting and domain | In your name, with access documented |
| Admin training | A short recorded walkthrough of how to edit and publish |
| Documentation | What is custom, what is a third-party plugin, how to update both |
| Staging copy | A place to test changes before production |
WordPress or something else?
Be candid early. Use WordPress when the site is content-led, editors change it often and a rich plugin ecosystem saves money. Consider a custom web application when users log in to do things: submit data, track orders, manage accounts. If the need is a store, Shopify can be cheaper to run than WooCommerce for some catalogues, and we will say so when it applies.
What we check on an existing site
Theme code and its update status, the plugin list with versions, hosting and backups, forms and where their email goes, and the redirects a migration would need. The audit result is a short written note: what to keep, what to replace and what it costs to leave as it is.
How the project runs
- Brief and discovery. Goals, pages, editors, integrations, existing site.
- Written scope and estimate. Templates, features, milestones and a USD estimate. You adjust before we build.
- Design and build in increments. Each increment is on a staging site with a recorded demo.
- Content and migration. Moving, mapping and checking pages.
- Launch. Redirects, caching, backups and monitoring in place.
- Handover and support. Credentials, documentation and training. Maintenance can continue after go-live if you want it.
The process page shows each stage and what you receive.
Stack
PHP and the WordPress core APIs, with WooCommerce where a store is needed. Front-end work is plain CSS and light JavaScript unless the design calls for more. We keep the plugin count low, because every plugin is a maintenance bill.

Frequently asked questions
How much does WordPress development cost?
It depends on scope: templates, custom features, integrations and content volume. After a short discovery call you get a written estimate in USD. No price list exists, because no two sites match.
How much does it cost to hire a WordPress developer?
Rates vary by experience and engagement model. For project work we quote the whole scope in writing instead of an hourly figure. If you want ongoing capacity, see hire dedicated developers.
Can you work on a site someone else built?
Yes. We audit it first and tell you whether to clean it up, extend it or rebuild parts. The audit is part of discovery.
Will my team be able to edit the site?
That is a design requirement, not an extra. We build the editor experience around the people who will use it, and record a walkthrough.
Do you handle hosting?
We can advise and set it up in your account. You own the hosting and domain.
Who owns the code?
You do. Source, repositories and accounts are handed over. NDA on request.
